Illustrative estimate only — not tax, financial or legal advice. Figures use published 2026/27 PAYE bands and the same engine as the UK salary calculator. Actual pay depends on your tax code, payroll and HMRC.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter current salary and region — same tax code and PAYE settings as the UK salary calculator.
  2. Slide the raise — percent or pounds. The new salary updates as you move it.
  3. Add bonus or overtime if they are part of the what-if. Tick “already receive” when they are already in current pay.

Frequently asked questions

What does this calculator show?

A what-if on your current salary: a raise in percent or pounds, plus optional bonus and overtime in the same picture. You get the monthly take-home change, the marginal rate on the extra pay, and warnings if the package crosses £50,270 or the £100,000 Personal Allowance taper.

How are bonus and overtime taxed?

Both are treated as additional taxable pay on top of salary, using the same PAYE engine as the UK salary calculator — income tax, National Insurance, pension and student loan. Overtime is weekly hours × hourly rate × 52 weeks.

What is the marginal rate?

It is the share of the extra gross that does not reach take-home (tax, NI, pension and student loan on the increment). Inside the £100,000–£125,140 taper this can reach about 60% even before student loan.

Should I tick that I already receive the extras?

Tick it when the bonus and overtime are already in your current pay. The raise then applies to salary only, but banding and taper warnings still use the full package. Leave it unticked to model extra bonus or overtime as part of the what-if.

Does this use the same tax engine as the salary calculator?

Yes. Income tax, National Insurance, pension and student loan use the same PAYE helpers as the UK salary calculator for 2026/27. Scotland uses Scottish bands. NI thresholds are UK-wide.
